An Art-full January

I am truly blessed and grateful for this ArtEdventure that I am on. I was able to continue my partnership working with The Craftaurant to start a makers club- or an art club which is still evolving. I held two free open houses and I was able to meet about 40 wonderful young artists and their parents. During the open houses, my young artist friends had the chance to create three different projects. I had mini canvases for acrylic painting, model magic air dry clay, and circular yarn looms to make bracelets. The first two projects were self driven by their creativity. I was happy to teach the technique of the yarn loom (video is in my lessons- and is free). I love the "a-ha" moment when they get the pattern and the bracelet starts to form. It was a very successful open house that not only introduced the young artists to the program, but also their parents to the wonderfulness of the Craftaurant. After discussing with Laura, the owner of the Craftaurant, I think we are going to turn the sessions into more direct instruction. I am designing the ad for the launch as we speak. My focus for February will be drawing basics. It was a repeated request theme from parents at the open house. Stay tuned for more information shortly!

As for the public teacher side of my life, I am having a great year. We are halfway through, and I still proclaim to have the best job in the school. I probably always will state that! I get paid to do what I love every day, and I inspired by some of the most creative students! I enjoy my afterschool time with my Art Club, and love that I am back with the drama club working on Legally Blonde Jr. Life is busy, but it is wonderful.

I truly am blessed and thankful.
