April Showers Bring May Flowers

Welcome Spring! I am glad to be through the winter. I have to be honest that balancing a business and being a full time art teacher has been quite the feat this year. Teachers always wear many hats- or have other side quests that they endeavor. I also run an art club at school, which is a complete joy. Being around middle schoolers that want to create art without a given project is so inspiring (and a bit chaotic- but so worth it)! I was also an assistant director for our musical this year, and I made many props and painted details on sets. Theater kids are just awesome- from the cast to the stage crew! They create a family in a short amount of time, and they are so inclusive. I love that about them, and it is always a little sad after the show is done. It's a crazy amount of work that is exhausting, but we have a great team and amazing parents. I really am so blessed to do what I love. I also have been teaching Art lessons to children at The Craftaurant. If you are a South Jersey local and have never been to The Craftaurant, it is a must do for all of us creative, artsy souls. Laura and Chi have worked together to create an amazing space for you to get your craft on. When you walk in, the reality of the world melts away and the positive vibe just soothes you. I am so glad that Laura agreed to let me run classes for children in this space. It is so wonderful to be able to bounce ideas and work together with both of them. My goal for my business is bring what I do in my magical Art room to the rest of the South Jersey community at the Craftaurant and to the rest of the world with this website. Creating a following, takes time and patience. On one hand, I am glad that I started while I am still teaching because it helps support the getting established phase. On the other hand, I sometimes think that I must be crazy to do it while I am still teaching and wearing all those hats! Balance is so important. I am trying to find my niche for successful children classes (and considering some in person adult drawing classes too). I would love some feedback, if you have ideas or suggestions. I also am doing my first summer art camp on my own. I have been fortunate to work through my school previously to create summer enrichment and the Ventnor Cultural Alliance with Sue and Nancy to help out with their wonderful (and very established) summer camp. I am blessed with amazing mentors all around me (and so thankful). April showers bring May flowers is a literal and metaphorical statement. It is literal because the classes that I am doing at the Craftaurant for April are all painting (representing the showers) and in May we are creating flowers and other colorful creative projects. It is a metaphor because you have to have April showers to get May flowers, so I have to create the basic foundation to watch my business blossom. I thank you for being on this journey with me!
